For the first time, we are seeking nominations to recognize deserving individuals from the local Black community and allies.

Submitting a Nomination
We are accepting nominations until February 1, 2026.

Once your nomination has been submitted, you will receive an email confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact infogpia@gmail.com, and we will verify receipt of your submission.
We strongly recommend drafting your responses in a separate document (such as a Word document or other word processor) before submitting the form. This helps prevent the loss of information in the event of technical issues.

​2026 Black Excellence Award Categories
Black Youth Award
Honouring a Black youth who demonstrates exceptional character, leadership, personal growth, or community involvement or volunteerism. This award recognizes a young person who consistently embodies Black Excellence and contributes positively to their school, community, or peer group.

Award eligibility criteria:
- 18 years old or younger
- Nominee is of Black descent
- Nominee resides in the Grande Prairie region (Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview, Wembley, Hythe, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith)
Black Community Impact Award
Presented to a community member whose actions, advocacy, or ongoing contributions have meaningfully advanced, strengthened, or supported the Black community. This individual demonstrates commitment, impact, and a deep sense of responsibility toward collective progress.

Award eligibility criteria:
- 19 years old or older
- Nominee resides in the Grande Prairie region (Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview, Wembley, Hythe, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith)
Black Business
of the Year
Recognizing a Black-owned business that has made an outstanding contribution to the community through service, leadership, innovation, or advocacy. This award celebrates a company that not only excels professionally but also uplifts and creates meaningful change within the broader community.

Award eligibility criteria:
- Business is black-owned (50% or more)
- Business operates in the Grande Prairie region (Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview, Wembley, Hythe, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith)
Community
Ally Award
Awarded to an individual or organization outside the Black community who has actively and authentically worked to uplift, amplify, or support Black voices, initiatives, and progress in the Grande Prairie region. This ally demonstrates integrity, collaboration, and a sustained commitment to positive impact.

Award eligibility criteria:
- Nominee is an individual or a business
- If it is an individual nominee, the individual nominee resides in the Grande Prairie region (Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview, Wembley, Hythe, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith)
- If it is a business nominee, the business nominee must operate in the Grande Prairie region (Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview, Wembley, Hythe, Beaverlodge, Sexsmith)
